I guess a sincere interest in studying another culture is not common between the two bros.

I picked up the new Newsboys CD last week, satisfying an anxious longing inside to discover what the boys from down under cooked up this time. Well, after listening to it for about a week, I have to say that it’s not quite what I was hoping for. After releasing 2 worship CDs and then a best of worship CD, I was excited to see what they would do for a new rock studio recording. There are a couple of superb songs on “Go”, like “Something Beautiful”, “Your Love is Better Than Life”, and “Secret Kingdom”. And fans of Newsboys’ funny, oddball lyrics have a couple new goodies to appreciate here. But overall, this album to me falls pretty far short of the accomplishment they had in “Thrive”, which was an outstanding rock album. But I’m also aware there are a lot of Newsboys fans who didn’t particularly care for “Thrive”, so maybe if you’re one of those, you will appreciate “Go” more. At any rate, “Go” is a good CD and I would recommend picking it up even though it’s not a new landmark in CCM. For me, “Something Beautiful” makes the price of the disc totally worthwhile all by itself.
