Shadows of the Past

So that’s the best shadow connection I can do for Groundhog Day.  The groundhog seeing his shadow..using an old toon…shadows of the past.  Mmm hmm.  Oh well.  Pitiful as it may be, that’s it for today.  :D

I’m thinking of running some “Classic” Stranger Things for a few more days as I have a couple of projects I’m working on right now.  First of all, my PC is in sad shape and is in dire need of a format and re-install.  Second, I have a couple of big cartoon project ideas rolling around in the back of my head and I don’t think I can do Stranger Things and work on these at the same time.  The first one would be a fairly quick project, so if I decide to go for it, I shouldn’t be running “classic” strips too long before I can start posting strips for this concept.  The other idea I have I’m still brewing up and if I’m able to start it, it would be a BIG project.  So I wouldn’t be starting it full-speed anytime soon.  I figured the smaller project would be a good warm-up for the big one.

I don’t want to divulge completely what either of them is quite yet, but I’ll discuss a little bit of the big one.  :D  I’ve had an idea for a LONG time that I really should have gotten serious about as soon as I thought of it.  I think it would be cool to start buying a Bible a week.  Find a good, affordable, easy-to-read version for kids mostly, such as the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV), probably.  And start building up a good stock-pile.  That way, when I co-direct my camp every year, or find a kid in my Sunday School class that doesn’t have a Bible, I can just chuck him one from my stash.  But, I don’t want to JUST hand a kid a Bible, as cool as that would be to be able to do that whenever needed.  I thought it would be really cool to write some kind of a comic book that basically introduces the child to the Bible, gives him or her a run-down of the groupings of the books, what’s basically in them where to find certain kinds of stories, etc.  Have a bunch of these “comic book” things printed out and slide them in each Bible as I hand them out.  That way the recipient isn’t totally lost as to where to jump in and start reading, or if they begin in Genesis and after a while get to a dry spell, if they want to check something else out, they could look at this book and find something more interesting to them rather than just quitting.  And maybe it should be more than a small book, maybe it should also be a web site where they could go and ask questions about what they’ve read or find other content.

So anyway, that’s my big idea.  The warm-up idea is really silly and nowhere as lofty.  But I think that Bible comic book thang could really turn out to be a cool project that could go somewhere.  I have a name for it, I have some rough ideas of how I would approach it, but I have a lot more planning and fleshing out of ideas to do before I get started.  So bear with me, I’ll probably run a couple 2 or 3 more Classic strips next week as I get my PC all set up again and then you’ll see some new stuff.  :)

Happy Friday!

Humm, sounds good. Love to help you in any way, but from 8 hours to your west, the best I can do is keep you in thought when I’m having my daily chat with God. You have a great start and finish Idea, 60% of the work is done. I can’t wait to see the finish product.
