If Rock Stars Were Geeks
This is a personal favorite of mine… I never got much feedback on it before, but it’s funny to a silly goober like me. And being a big fan of music history didn’t hurt either.
Here’s an interesting video for your Friday viewing pleasure. Just for background, Brett Ratner is the director who took all the beutiful things Brian Singer did with X-Men and X-Men 2 and flushed them down the toilet for X-Men 3. Meanwhile Brian Singer took his untarnished reputation and rubbed monkey mucus all over it with Superman Returns. OK, OK, I don’t really feel that way, but it’s just more fun to say that. At first I didn’t like X3 AT ALL, but over time I’ve come to appreciate it. And at first I thought Superman Returns was just OK while I was expecting another Brian Singer comic book masterpiece. But now, …OK I still feel that way. But this little video with Mr. Ratner and Jackie Chan is pretty funny. I really hope Jackie Chan NEVER appears in an X-Men movie… I love the guy and all, but…no. Just no.
I picked up a beautiful hardcover today at the comic store. Marvel Zombies. I missed the issues when they were new and Ken who runs Arch Enemy Comics in town was encouraging me to check it out. I just love Marvel hardbacks. They look so amazing…the glossy paper, the sturdy binding, the fifth blade that shaves even closer… This is just fun fun stuff. The pages look so beautiful I hate to touch them so that I can read the book… Need to get some Marvel Hardback reading gloves. Or develop the mutant superpower of telekinesis.
Well, date night tonight. We’ll see how Carissa likes Spider-Man 3. I think she’ll really like it. And I can’t wait to see it again. Ken at the comic store said something about the movie today which I really appreciated. I asked him how he liked it and he said he really liked the moral of the story. And just when I expected him to be all serious and talk about revenge vs. forgiveness, he says, “I really liked the message. Emo is evil.”
And I laughed. A lot.
And I’ll leave you with that. Happy Friday, all.

Hmm, I would say it depends on whether you are showing Hendrix alive or dead! I read it as it’s an upside-down mouse because it’s a ‘paws-up’ dead mouse.
Along the lines of evil emo: Birgit told me about a t-shirt she has been tempted to buy for Toby. It says “Emo = Like goth only less dark and more Harry Potter.”

LOL, Randall and Brian, I love both of those shirts, those are awesome!
About the comic - I did the Hendrix mouse upside-down because I always thought it was very strange that instead of playing a lef-handed guitar, he played a right-handed guitar upside-down. So that’s what I was focused on. Totally should have had it on fire. That would have been funnier and the joke would have been totally obvious. Oh well. Draw and learn.
