Rude Bottle Caps

Another strip inspired by real life.  This comes back to mind again since every time I buy a diet pepsi now, it has some code on the bottle cap.  Pepsi seems to think I’m willing to go to some web site I’ve never heard of before and give them all of my personal contact information just for some chance to win something related to the Transformers movie.  I’m a nerd, but I ain’t that nerdy.  Anyways.  This is more about those bottle caps that say “Not a Winner” or something to that effect.  What a pick-me-up to see those few encouraging words on your vending machine break just after asking yourself why you bother to live the same day over and over again at a dead-end job.  A couple of years after doing this strip, I read a “Get Fuzzy” book containing a strip that is very similar.  It’s the same idea, but he presents it in a different way than I did and ultimately his way was far better.  So I guess I have much to learn as a cartoonist.  :D

I feel bad posting yet another “Stranger Things: Classic” strip tonight.  I was fully planning on doing a new one, but I got busy making plans for this year’s church camp next month.  Always a stressful but still fun ordeal.  So by the time I was done with my meeting by phone, my juices were drained….  Pretty lame excuse, huh?

I did have some GREAT NEWS today, however.  I’ve been invited to attent Gnomedex by Dawn Douglass of Full Tilt Features fame.  I can’t wait I can’t wait I can’t wait.  It’s in Seattle!  I haven’t been there since 1992 when I freaked my parents out by heading there on spring break with a couple of friends.  Gnomedex is a convention for podcasters and bloggers and I’m very excited to see what I can glean from the experience.  My job while there will be to write up some cartoons about the convention, so I should be pretty busy and I’m hoping that some new opportunities arise as a result of attending.  I can’t thank Dawn enough for making it possible.  Hopefully I can get ahold of a camcorder and do some investigative reporting about the whole shindig.  That could be fun to post some video here on the site.

Well that’s all I got.  May you have a Wondermous Wednesday and don’t forget about the comic books!!

I don’t think it’s a lame excuse. I signed out of work just after 10pm last night. I know exactly what it’s like to be drained by meetings and have nothing creative to think or say. And I’m cool with that. Because life is that way. Tough. Tell me we don’t all have days like that.
