On Hold With Music
I was hanging out with a bunch of friends a few days ago doing some gaming and we had this 80s/90s rock station playing in the background. Several good and long forgotten songs had played when suddenly I hear Nelson. Doing their one song. I actually surprised myself at how suddenly and violently I reacted to having that long buried memory dug up for fresh reflection. Eesh. So while drawing this, I imagined Alan hearing an elevatorized version of “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection.” Thus the painful expressions.
And after that last panel I imagined Alan having a harassment lawsuit filed against him.
Someday someone should release an album where every single song contains part of the title in parentheses. I would find that humorous.

MSN has the worst hold music EVER! Plus it’s so insanely catchy that you’re stuck “do-do-da-do”ing for weeks.

Try hearing a musak version of “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by the Scorpions in a grocery store. I almost fell to the ground in the fetal position I was bothered so much by it.
Also, I have some songs for your parentheses album:
(Oh) Pretty Woman, Roy Orbison
(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay, Otis Redding
(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, Rolling Stones
Pride (In The Name Of Love), U2
For Those About To Rock (We Salute You), AC/DC
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), Journey
(Don’t Fear) The Reaper, Blue Oyster Cult
I’m sure there are many more.

LOL! I’m glad I’m not the only one bothered by such things.
I love your list, we should compile a good CD’s worth! I bet we could easily do it…
(I Just) Died In Your Arms - The Cutting Crew
There’ll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry) - Billy Ocean
OK some of these wouldn’t go well together… And on top of that, Mark came up with far manlier songs than I did.
Actually a quick search in iTunes shows Billy Ocean to be quite the parenthetical connosuir.

ooooh i want to play!
Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap) - AC/DC
(How Sweet it is) To Be Loved by You - James Taylor

Heard this one on the radio this morning.
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day

This is shaping up nicely. From James Taylor to Billy Ocean to Green Day.
“(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” - Bryan Adams.
As if hearing it four thousand times in 1991 wasn’t enough.

OK, I can’t let this one stop.
Meatloaf could have his own album of these songs
I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)
I’d Lie For You (And That’s The Truth)
You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)
November 29th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long Long Time) - Elton John
That’s all I can think of
November 29th, 2007 at 2:01 pm
Oh oh, and..
Over My Head (Cable Car) - The Fray
but that song is kinda annoying.
November 29th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
its even more annoying when a camp counselor at summer camp sings it over and over and over so he gets attention from all the young ladies. (i think it was the only song he knew) thats annoying.

I don’t believe in camp.
