Bearing No Resemblance To Reality
Gee. Whatever could this cartoon be about?
Read a post linked to by Scott Johnson over on Extra Life today that inspired this cartoon. All about the Gamespot/Gertsmann fiasco of last November. If you haven’t heard, Jeff Gertsmann was a long-time reviewer of video games for Gamespot and was fired after writing a pretty negative review of “Kane & Lynch.” Basically, it’s believed that Gamespot was pressured by the publisher of said game due to the lack of sales that a poor Gamespot review score would cause. There is a TON out there on the web about the whole fiasco. Check out the article that I read (well, skimmed. It’s LONG) here.

It kills me, now I’m sure if a company puts out a crappy game, then someone blogs about the “serious issues” and gives it a poor review, I feel the company will go after the blogger. It’s not the fact that they made a crappy game, but the negative pointing that fact out before the public had a chance to waste money on it.
Wait. they’ll re-release Pong, same game from the 70’s, new box. When a blogger gets it they’ll point out that no changes were made and compared to today’s standards, it bites. Then some big lawsuit will fall upon the poor blogger. Yeah…it’s going that way.

as some wise vegetables once said “stand up for what you believe in belieeeeve in”
thats a pretty low thing for a company to do to cave to pressure. unbiased review site? yeah right.
