Santa Barbara Provides Parking Lots for Homeless

May 29th, 2008

CNN doesn’t offer the ability to embed videos into blogs or I would have done that, but here is a story that shocked me today.  Watching the video gets the idea across best.

Is this a small, shocking sign of significant trouble ahead for America’s way of life?  I have to wonder.  Our government has acknowledged the sad state our economy is currently in, but are the rebates too little too late?  I’m starting to hear about people taking more serious action in response to the rising costs of living.  Fuel costs have forced us to look hard at our driving habits.  Food costs have forced us to change our grocery shopping habits.  Are these temporary annoyances or is life about to change drastically for the USA?

Hhmmm…

this actually is a neat thing. i’ve lived in my car for a week. its not fun. and its kind of scary sleeping in your car in a city. i used the parking lot of a 24hr walmart. somewhat safe. thank goodness for tinted windows and window shades!
